It is now widely accepted that the use of dermoscopy in the diagnosis of skin cancer is the gold standard of care. There is good evidence that dermoscopy improves diagnostic accuracy, reduces unnecessary operations and it has been shown to be superior to an examination with the naked eye. This part of the website will run through the basics of dermoscopy and then discuss the recognition of benign and malignant disease.
